New wordpress theme

Context

I’m still testing this wordpress theme I made during the last two days, based on the famous hemingway theme. I’d like to ask you to test it before I release it on themes.wordpress.net and officially on this site. It has been tested on IE6, IE7, Firefox and Safari but as usually bugs appear when users begin to use it I have to release it in beta mode before.
For those who have a good knowledge of photo copyrights, the one used in the header section of this theme has been bought on fotolia, but I’m not sure I have the right to use it in an opensource software released under a GPL license. If so, that means I’ll have to buy an exclusive license on fotolia and this isn’t going to happen as the price is too expensive for me. Well, I’m waiting for your suggestions, in waiting let’s talk about the theme.

Code name : Prairie

Easy to get, prairie because of the picture, prairie because of the wide feeling this theme gives. I took the Hemingway theme as a basis because I like the way the last two posts are displayed on the home page and because this theme is light and has good information organization. The blocks are clear, we find easily what we want, and it gives good relevance to the content. Give it a try in my preview themes section on your right.

Features

PNG transparency

All PNG images embedded in an img src tag are fixed with a javascript plugin and that means you can post full transparent png images within a post without any issues. A few css backgrounds are also fixed with the same method (search bar, buttons, …)

Javascript effects

Javascript effects to slide down or slide up the bottom sidebar (the classic sidebar is set to the bottom of the page on Hemingway theme) and the same for the comments list when you read a post (single page), pretty useless but fun!

Half liquid interface

Half liquid interface: the main container doesn’t fill the whole window but blocks are set in percentage so you could resize your browser and keep the look of pages safe.

Rounded corners

Rounded corners without any images, css hacks or anything else, it just uses a jquery plugin again and it works like a charm, see for yourself: the about and comments blocks are rounded with this method.

Widget ready

Widget ready, this theme has been tested on the last Wordpress version which has a native widget plugin and also worked fine on previous Wordpress versions with a widget plugin installed manually.

Download

Updated on Feb 28

Download Pairie wordpress theme now and I’d appreciate if you gave me feedback ASAP. Keep in mind it’s a beta version so don’t worry if things don’t work perfectly – just let me know if/what problems you might have. Thank you.
